As Principal Geotechnical Engineer and Owner, Zakeyo, a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the states of Washington, Oregon, and Nevada, has been involved in projects ranging from single-family residences, multi-family developments, office and commercial buildings, to public works. He has performed preconstruction studies (including subsurface exploration, infiltration testing for stormwater design, and groundwater monitoring) on a wide variety of projects and engaged in site inspections and project management during construction. His professional design and engineering experience includes all aspects of geotechnical engineering, such as shallow and deep foundations; conventional and geotextile-reinforced retaining structures; landslide monitoring and repair; and design and analysis of concrete and flexible pavements for public and private projects.

Zakeyo has extensive experience working on projects under FERC regulatory review. He has participated in Part 12D safety inspections and Potential Failure Mode Analysis (PFMA) sessions. He has also participated in several dam safety risk assessments, and capital planning projects for hydropower generation infrastructure. In 2011, he was invited to join the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Task Committee to Revise Guidelines for Dam Instrumentation. The Committee's task was to complete and publish a comprehensive, up-to-date Manual of Practice based on the 2000 publication titled Guidelines for Instrumentation and Measurements for Monitoring Dam Performance. We published the new book, titled Monitoring Dam Performance: Instrumentation and Measurements, in 2018.

Zakeyo grew up near Mosi-Oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls) in Southern Zambia. He enjoys playing darts and exploring the beauty and wonder of the Pacific Northwest, which he has called home since 2006 with his wife and twin daughters.
